New Trailer for Lupin III The First CG Movie

Update:

We have received new information on the film’s plot.

The film will see Lupin working with Leticia (the new female character) to steal the Bresson Diary. The treasure was something that even the first Arsène Lupin could not steal.

Arsène Lupin has been referenced in the show’s canon before- including Lupin III Part I (also known as the “green jacket” series) where one episode has Lupin attempting to steal his grandfather’s top hat and cane from the decedent of his rival, Inspector Ganimard.

We do see a tattered top-hat and cane in the above trailer, so in this continuity Arsène Lupin’s attempt to steal the Bresson Diary may have been fatal.

Confirmed cast members include:

  • Kan’ichi Kurita (Lupin III)
  • Kiyoshi Kobayashi (Jigen)
  • Daisuke Namikawa (Goemon)
  • Miyuji Sawashiro (Fujiko)
  • Kôichi Yamadera (Inspector Zenigata)
  • Suzu Hirose (Luticia)
  • Kōtarō Yoshida (Lambert)
  • Tatsuya Fujiwara (Geralt)

Original Story:

TOHO has revealed the new trailer for the new animated CG film Lupin III The First.

Featured above, the new trailer shows off the movie, which is based on Monkey Punch’s popular and long-running Lupin III franchise. In case you missed our prior report, this is the franchise’s first 3D, CG feature-length film.

The video’s description does give us a tiny glimmer at the film’s premise:

Steal everything.

Challenge the dream that the first Lupine could not reach!
New story of new heroine Leticia and Lupine, 40 years after the Castle of Cariostro.

12.6 [FRI] IT’S SHOW TIME!!

The trailer also shows the Bresson Diary, some kind of cipher that may lead to an even greater treasure, or a disaster.

Takashi Yamazaki is directing and writing the film, which is actually the third movie after 2014’s Lupin the III: Jigen’s Gravestone and 2017’s Lupin the III: Chikemuri no Ishikawa Goemon.

Lupin III The First is premiering on December 6th of this year.
