The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf Anime Film Announced via Netflix

Netflix have announced a new anime film based on The Witcher franchise, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.

Details are scant at this time, with only a single post by the Twitter account for Netflix NX (Netflix’s “home to all things geek“). Those confirmed to be involved with the project so far include the live-action The Witcher writers Lauren S. Hissrich and Beau DeMayo, along with Studio Mir.

The South-Korean animation studio was behind 45 episodes of The Legend or Korra, Season 4 of The Boondocks, and 2016’s Voltron: Legendary Defender.

With the recent live-action The Witcher Netflix causing a resurgence of interest in the franchise, and Netflix own efforts at funding anime projects, the decision almost seems like a no-brainer.

No release date was confirmed at this time, but due to the nature of this announcement we are all but certain it will be coming exclusively to Netflix.
