The World Ends with You: The Animation Announced, Full Reveal July 3

The World Ends With You The Animation

Square Enix have teased The World Ends with You: The Animation, with a full reveal coming in seven days during Anime Expo Lite. (Thanks Nibellion!)

Details are scant at this stage, with only the official website teasing a reveal in seven days; or rather, Friday July 3rd at 6 p.m. PDT (July 4th at 10 a.m. JST). The announcement will be made at Anime Expo Lite.

The World Ends with You was a 2007 Nintendo DS game, later ported to Android, iOS, and later Nintendo Switch in 2018. This new project may indicate a sequel is in the works, or will act as a means to test or build how popular the IP is.

The story of the game focused on Neku Sakuraba, a teen who awakens in Shibuya with no memory, and a moving tattoo on the back of his hand that is counting down. What’s more, he can now hear the thoughts of others- with negative thoughts and feelings manifesting as monsters dubbed Noise.

He is soon sucked into The Reapers Game, undertaking missions set by a reaper over seven days while partnered up with another person who has recently died. The original DS game utilized both screens, with Neku and his partner each fighting battles on their own screen.

We will keep you informed as we learn more.
