Ascendance of a Bookworm follows Myne, originally Urano Motosu, who was reborn in a fantasy world as the second daughter of a peasant family.

Physically frail and burdened economically, her options are limited. More than anything, she wants to read books, as that was her passion in her past life. But books are prohibitively expensive in this world; paper making has yet to be invented and instead using vellum and parchment.

Her saving grace is the knowledge she retained from her past life, as most peasants aren’t educated in math or literacy. She impresses a local merchant, who takes her and her friend under his wing

However, Myne’s a victim of a mysterious disease known only as The Consuming, which threatens to cut her life short. That is unless she can have her illness treated with magical devices that only nobles and merchants can afford access to. Magic itself is generally reserved solely for the nobility, and is a matter of blood rather than knowledge or training.

Armed with a precocious knowledge of her past life, Myne does her best to continue living with her peasant family, and will hopefully be able to read books again some day.

A premiere date for the third season of Ascendance of a Bookworm has yet to be announced.
