Inuyasha Sequel Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon Premieres October 2020

Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon

Viz Media has announced the premiere date of the upcoming sequel to Inuyasha, titled Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon.

Originally announced by Viz Media’s official news blog, the new series will star the daughters of both Inuyasha and Sesshomaru. Much like the original series, time travel will be a central focus of the plot as the Tree of Ages shunts Towa Higurashi, one of Sesshomaru’s daughters back and forth in time.

Although raised in the future by the Higurashi family, Towa is sent back to the past where she meets Setsuna and Moroha. Setsuna is the unaware twin sister of Towa, although she is a daughter of Sesshomaru she is also a demon slayer. Moroha is the daughter of Kagome and Inuyasha, a tomboyish young girl who is adept with both a bow and a sword.

The official announcement trailer (though the series was announced prior to the trailer) also shows a young man wearing a demon slayer uniform and riding what appears to be Kirara- Sango’s companion and mount.

You can find the rundown (via Viz Media) below.

“The anime stars Towa and Setsuna, the twin daughters of Sesshomaru who get separated in a forest fire. Towa ends up in modern times and is raised by Sota Higurashi, Kagome’s little brother. Ten years later, they are reunited, but Setsuna is a demon slayer with no memories of her sister. Joined by Moroha, Inuyasha and Kagome’s daughter, they set off on an adventure to regain their missing past.”

Towa will be voiced by Sara Matsumoto (Namida Suzumeno in Boruto: Next Generations), Setsuna will be voiced by Mikako Komatsu (Ayame Kagurazaka in Eromanga Sensei), and Moroha will be voiced by Azusa Todokoro (Aoi Kiriya in the Aikatsu! franchise).

Inuyasha began as a manga in 1996 by Rumiko Takahashi, who is also known for her series Ranma 1/2. An anime was released in 2000 which ran for over 150 episodes over four years. The series fostered a massive western fanbase due to it being one of the first anime series aired on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim programming block.

Yashahime: Princess Half-demon premieres October 2020.
