Super Powered Suspense Series Talentless Nana Premieres This October

Talentless Nana

Square Enix have announced an anime adaption of Looseboy and Iori Furuya’s Talentless Nana.

The upcoming series was announced on the show’s official website. Talentless Nana takes place in the near future where humanity is at war with the vaguely named “enemies of humanity.” At a secluded school on a distant island, young men and women with superpowers are trained in order to use their abilities to destroy these enemies.

Nana Hiiragi is a new transfer student to the island school, claiming to have psychic powers, and willing to help out her classmates. The truth is a far different story however. Nana does not have any powers, but knows those with super powers are the ones who will become “enemies of humanity.” It is up to her to stop them.

With her psychic powers being a lie, Nana is forced to earn the trust of her classmates and fake her powers using only her cleverness and powers of deduction. Who are the real enemies of humanity? Is Nana in the right? The series explores the mystery presented leaving it unclear who is good or evil.

Talentless Nana is the first independent manga title by author Looseboy, who has preciously worked on visual novels for AkabeiSoft2, and illustrated by Iori Furuya. The manga series is published by Square Enix in Monthly Shonen Gangan.

You can find the rundown (via Crunchyroll) below.

“An academy on an island in unnavigable waters. There, students trained tirelessly, to fight back against the enemies of humanity. The protagonist, a student newly transferred there, also sets out with the intention of eradicating all enemies of humankind. An unpredictable, intellectual suspense story of justice and evil.”

Talentless Nana premieres October, 2020. A western release or simulcast has not been officially announced.
