Anime Adaptation of The Eminence in Shadow Announced

Eminence of Shadow

An anime adaptation of The Eminence in Shadow (Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute) has been announced. The series follows a guy sent to another world who accidentally picks a fight with a very real evil cult.

The upcoming series was announced on Kadokawa’s official anime Twitter page.

The Eminence in Shadow began as a light novel series in 2018 by writer-artist duo Daisuke Aizawa and Touzai. Minoru Kagenou is a typical student with delusions of grandeur (chuunibyou syndrome for the weebs in the audience), such that being transferred to another world is possibly the best thing to happen to him.

With newfound power and opportunity at his disposal, Minoru becomes the kind of person he always wanted to be: an “eminence in shadow”. As such, he works mostly as a mastermind wanting to appear intelligent and aloof, even if he has to lie now and then.

A summary of the series from Yen Press can be found below.

“ONE BIG FAT LIE AND A FEW TWISTED TRUTHS
Even in his past life, Cid’s dream wasn’t to become a protagonist or a final boss. He’d rather lie low as a minor character until it’s prime time to reveal he’s a mastermind…or at least, do the next best thing-pretend to be one! And now that he’s been reborn into another world, he’s ready to set the perfect conditions to live out his dreams to the fullest. Armed with his overactive imagination, Cid jokingly recruits members to his organization and makes up a whole backstory about an evil cult that they need to take down. Well, as luck would have it, these imaginary adversaries turn out to be the real deal-and everyone knows the truth but him!”
At the time of publishing neither a release date or confirmation of an English release has been announced.
