Pacific Rim: The Black Premieres March 4

Pacific Rim

The Netflix original animated series Pacific Rim: The Black will premiere on the streaming platform March 4th.

Pacific Rim began as a 2013 film directed by Guillermo del Toro and featured an international coalition of pilots who were responsible for fighting off giant kaiju in mechas called “Jaegers”.

The new anime series makes use of 3D animation rather than conventional animation which has been the case with their other series such as Kengan Ashura and Beastars. Polygon Pictures, the animation studio tasked with Pacific Rim: The Black is known for their work in Transformers: Prime and the Cartoon Network series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Netflix gave a brief rundown of the series on their NX Twitter page which can be found below.

“Long ago, humanity defeated the Kaiju. Now, they’re evacuating Australia. In 2021 join a pair of siblings and their battered, long-abandoned Jaegar as they battle across a continent of danger in Pacific Rim: The Black.”
