Black Lagoon to be Rebroadcast on YouTube

Black Lagoon

The 2006 anime series Black Lagoon is being rebroadcast on the Sunday DX YouTube channel.

According to the Japanese news blog AV WatchBlack Lagoon will be rereleased on YouTube for free every Tuesday. This release follows a recent trend of anime producers making their older content free online, such as 1986’s Oishinbo late last year.

The series is about a group of mercenaries called the Lagoon Company operating in the seas of Southeast Asia in the 1990s. The story centers on the fictional city of Roanapur where multiple international crime syndicates all do business in the region.

The Lagoon Company navigates the seas of Southeast Asia in the titular boat the Black Lagoon; the ship is a Patrol Torpedo vessel

The series began as a manga in 2002 by creator Rei Hiroe and is published by Shogakukan. The series is released in English by Viz Media and is still ongoing at 11 volumes at the time of publishing.

The first episode can be found below.

However unlike Oishinbo, the YouTube broadcast of Black Lagoon is not being released with English subtitles.
