Multiple Ultraman Titles and Makoto Shinkai Films are Being Removed from Crunchyroll

Ultraman

Crunchyroll announced last week that multiple Makoto Shinkai films alongside some Ultraman titles will be removed from the streaming platform.

Alongside the Shinkai films and Ultraman, Crunchyroll will also be removing the second season of Love Live! School Idol Project. The Love Live! anime series is licensed by NIS America and not Crunchyroll directly.

The removed films include 5 centimeters per Second, Voices of a Distant Star, and The Place Promised In Our Early Days. Makoto Shinkai is largely known for his more recent works Your Name and Weathering With You.

The removed Ultraman titles include: Ultraman Gaia, Ultraman Ginga, Ultraman Geed, Ultraman Nexus, Ultraman Orb, and Ultraman X. Ultraman is a tokusatsu action hero that debuted in the 1960s. The Ultramen are technologically advanced space-faring lifeforms dedicated to maintaining peace in the universe.

However due to the pollution and other issues, the Ultramen cannot remain on Earth for long. However they’re able to parasitize onto a human host in order to protect themselves and recover their energy.

A new live-action film in the Ultraman franchise is expected to premiere later this year.

The above series and films will no longer be available on Crunchyroll after March 31st.
