Poupelle of Chimney Town, based on the children’s picture book by Akihiro Nishino will premiere December 25th in Japan, and sometime next year internationally.

Poupelle of Chimney Town follows a small boy named Lubicchi who lives in a town covered in thick smog. Despite the smoke covering the sky he wants to see the stars, even though most of the adults around him think stars aren’t real and it’s a fool’s errand. With a strange robot companion, Lubicchi sets off on an adventure to discover the truth about stars and his smog-covered town.

Akihiro Nishino is credited as Executive Producer and the writer of the story and screenplay. Poupelle of Chimney Town is based off of Nishino’s picture book of the same name and he has adapted it for a feature film.
