Beastars Season 2 Premieres January 2021

Beastars Season 2

The premiere date of the second season of Paru Itagaki’s Beastars has been announced.

Beastars takes place in a world of anthropomorphic animals and navigates the political and criminal intrigue inherent in a society where a strong percentage of the population has a primal need to eat the other.

This starts with the murder of a herbivore at Cherryton Academy. As distrust rises, gray wolf Legoshi begins to have feelings for dwarf rabbit Haru. Though he cannot tell if it is lust, hunger, or something deeper.

Twitter account @MediacafePOPEYE tweeted the covers of newly arriving books including volume 20 of Beastars, the latest in the series. A small paper advertisement (common on manga sold in Japan) that wraps around the volume announces a release date for the upcoming second season of the anime (as seen above).

The confirmed release window comes just a few weeks after Paru Itagaki herself confirmed that season 2 was in development on the official NX Twitter account.

You can find the full rundown (via Viz Media) below.

“At a high school where the students are literally divided into predators and prey, it’s personal relationships that maintain the fragile peace. Who among them is a Beastar—an academic and social role model destined to become a leader in a society naturally rife with mistrust?”

The first season of Beastars premiered in October 2019 in Japan, and March 2020 in the west on Netflix. The series became a surprising hit with foreign audiences and has fostered a large western fan base.

Beastars season 2 will premiere January 2021. The western release will likely follow a few months afterwards.
