Funimation Gets New License for Robotech

Funimation and Kew Media have announced a new licensing deal for the iconic anime Robotech.

The new deal brings the entire original anime with all original 85 episodes to Funimation, as well as the sequel films Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles and Robotech 2: The Sentinels.

All three are seen as the ”Americanized versions” of the Macross mecha anime universe ever since their release in 1985.

There has been a lot of discussion as well over the years, regarding the similarities with the Macross anime universe and people have speculated for a long time if they’re related.

The show has been met with heated debates for almost as long as ‘who’s the best waifu’ in the Evangelion series. With Robotech, for 20+ years the question ”is Robotech part of Macross?” has been debated for a long time.
