Girls’ Frontline Anime to Premiere this Year

Girls' Frontline

An anime based off the Chinese mobile game Girls’ Frontline is expected to premiere sometime in 2021. The game is called Dolls’ Frontline in Japan.

The upcoming anime is being produced by Warner Bros. Japan and animated by Asahi Production. Asahi Production is known for their previous work on Himegoto, Pan de Peace!, and multiple Sanrio properties such as Sugarbunnies and Hello Kitty.

Girls’ Frontline takes place in a post-apocalyptic future where wars are fought with combat androids called “tactical dolls” (shortened to T-Dolls). The world is largely uninhabitable by humanity thanks to a substance known as Collapse Fluid, thus necessitating the use of these dolls in warfare.

In the game, players take on the role of a manager with the private military contractor Grifon & Kryuger. The company has been hired to fight against a renegade AI called Sangvis Ferri, which has killed its human masters and taken over strategic locales on Earth.

The trailer for the upcoming anime can be found below.

The voice cast for the main characters has also been announced and includes

  • Haruka Tomatsu as M4A1
  • Nozomi Yamane as M16A1
  • Emiri Kato as ST AR-15
  • Yukari Tamura as M4 SOPMOD II
