• Hideaki Anno to Write and Direct Shin Kamen Rider Film

    Hideaki Anno, the creative mind behind Neon Genesis Evangelion will be writing and directing a new live action film Shin Kamen Rider.

    According to Anime News Network, the announcement of the live action film comes just as Kamen Rider as a franchise is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The live action film is expected to premiere in March 2023.

    Anno is mostly known for his work on Neon Genesis Evangelion and the recent film Shin Evangelion which recently opened to a 3.3 billion yen opening week last month. Anno is also working on multiple projects on older franchises including the 2016 film Shin Godzilla, and an upcoming Shin Ultraman film.

    The director also edited a music video featuring clips of the original Kamen Rider to celebrate the franchise’s anniversary and can be found below.
