Kaguya-sama: Love is War to Receive Third Season

Kaguya-sama: Love is War

A third season and OVA for the romantic comedy Kaguya-sama: Love is War was confirmed recently after its second season which premiered earlier this year.

The announcement was made on the official Twitter for the Kaguya-sama: Love is War anime series. An OVA (Original Video Animation) is also in the works.

The anime’s first season ran from January to March 2019, with Animation Production by A-1 Pictures, and directed by Mamoru Hatakeyama. Producers included Taku Funakoshi, Tatsuya Ishikawa, Toshihiro Maeda, and Naoto Nakajima.

The second season of Kaguya-sama: Love is War had the main cast reprising their season one roles with Aoi Koga voicing Kaguya, Makoto Furukawa voicing Shirogane, Konomi Kohara voicing Chika, and Ryouta Suzuki voicing Ishigami.

The series follows the student council of the prestigious Shuchiin Academy. Where the hard working young man Miyuki Shirogane and the elite heiress to the Shinomiya conglomerate Kaguya Shinomiya both hold secret feelings of love from each other.

However due to the competitive and proud nature of them both, neither one will allow themselves to be the first to admit they love the other. Instead the two engage in frequent social sparring, trying to entice each other to fall even more deeply in love and confess their feelings first.

The rest of the student council frequently gets involved in their conversations and are roped into unknowingly helping, or make situations between the pair worse on accident.

Last season Kaguya-sama: Love is War was streamed exclusively by Funimation for western audiences. Funimation was criticized for their handling of the translation, by making references to “social distancing” at least twice in an attempt to seem timely and relevant. Aniplex of America (both Funimation and Aniplex are owned by Sony) later apologized for the translation “error”.

At the time of publishing there is no confirmed premiere date for the third season of Kaguya-sama: Love is War
