The First Volume of Demon Slayer is Now Free Digitally

Demon Slayer

Viz Media, the western publisher of multiple manga series including the popular Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has made the first volume of the series free digitally.

The announcement comes just as the film Demon Slayer: Mugen Train is experiencing commercial success following its western theatrical release. This comes as a small surprise as the film managed to become the highest grossing film ever in Japan, beating out western hits such as Frozen and Titanic.

Beginning in 2016 by author and artist Koyoharu Gotouge, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba takes place in a historical fantasy version of Taisho-era Japan. Tanjiro Kamado is the child of charcoal sellers, and is out selling his families wares when they are attacked by demons.

By the time he returns home, his parents are dead and his sister has been corrupted. In order to save his sister and defeat the demon that killed his parents, Tanjiro gets himself recruited by the demon slayer Giyu Tomioka.
