Waifu Wednesday April 14: Elna Stongs

Elna Stongs

Welcome to Waifu Wednesday, Nicchiban’s new column where we talk about anime characters, their appeal, and a little on their history.

Today on Waifu Wednesday, Elna Stongs from The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter. Elna is introduced early on in the series as a a particularly teasing teacher at the Hero Academy and a competent fighter.

As a teacher, Elna isn’t shy about teasing the male students and offering “favors” as rewards for exceeding her expectations. One of Elna’s first scenes features her “rewarding” the protagonist Noir Stadia by grinding against him and sitting on him.

Elna Stongs

At the age of 24 she’s young for a teacher, but due to her background as a mercenary she was hired to train the S-Class students at the Hero Academy. Not much is known about Elna’s past, or at the very least she doesn’t talk about it in explicit detail. What is known is that she’s shameless in her behavior and is willing to use students like Noir to pose as her boyfriend to deter other men she doesn’t like.

Elna is unofficially part of the protagonist’s harem in the series and makes appearances now and then. She acknowledges Noir’s power throughout the series and acquiesces to some of his desires.

Elna Stongs

Elna straddles a fine line between tomboy and “onee-san” archetypes, acting as an older role model for other female characters like Emma Brightness but also being spunky, independent, and physically powerful which allows her to contrast with the more servile personalities of the rest of the female cast. Elna remains a free spirit for most of the series, lacking any real devotion to Noir like the rest of his harem.

Her crass personality, physical might, and willingness to tease will draw fans to this tomboyish teacher. While she lacks the screentime of the other heroines of the series, she’s definitely not lacking for attention whenever she’s on the scene.
