WATATEN!: an Angel Flew Down to Me Theatrical Special Announced

An “all-new” theatrical anime from the series WATATEN!: an Angel Flew Down to Me has been announced.

WATATEN!: an Angel Flew Down to Me is a slice-of-life series that began in 2016 and is serialized in Comic Yuri Hime. An anime series was released in 2019 from studio Doga Kobo; the studio is known for their previous works including Gabriel DropOut, The Helpful Fox Senko-san, How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?, and more recently Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle.


The series follows the daily life of college student Miyako Hoshino, her younger sister Hinata, and her growing group of friends including Hana Shirosaki, Noa Himesaka, Koyori Tanemura, and Kanon Konomori. Miyako constantly acts as a big sister to the entire group and also tries to coerce her sister and her friends (mostly Noa) into modeling cosplays and outfits she makes as a hobby.

The upcoming theatrical anime was announced February 6th on Twitter and was accompanied by a new teaser PV which can be found below.

A release date for the upcoming film has yet to be announced.
